Void form floors use more piers/caissons and rebar than a structural floor. Void form floors are made using cardboard boxes that crush to respond to the movements of expansive soil. However, the void form systems do not have means of access below to plumbing/electrical components. They also don’t provide inherent protection for your plumbing.
